Consider the differences:
Pastel paintings are made from handmade clay/chalk medium. It creates a very soft detail that is truly awesome in capturing animal portraits. These paintings need to be framed under glass. I spray my finished pieces with fixative however it can still be smudged if you rub against it. Each of my pastel pieces will be delivered with a standard matt and plastic to protect it until it is framed on your end. You can choose a pastel painting on a soft, fur-like paper or choose a pastel painting on a board or matt which allows for additional detail because the board can withstand a significant amount of layers compared to paper’s limitations. You can also choose a mixed media of Pastel and Acrylic which is a stunning combination. I will paint the background in acrylic and the portrait in pastel.
Acrylic paintings are made from acrylic paint which is a plastic based that is similar to oil paint. It offers the painting a wet, velvety appearance and I cover my paintings with a clear varnish that adds a shine and protection. For this reason, there is no need to frame it under glass. I paint all sides of the canvas so that you can hang it as is and you can also frame it but you can do so without a glass. You can also confidently dust your painting with a damp cloth. Before it is framed, please be certain not to lean the canvas against anything sharp as this could possibly damage the shape of the surface. Each painting comes wired to hang so you can hang it on your wall immediately.
